Sami presses Will to explain his behavior. In a big moment, he finally reveals he saw her having sex with EJ! Sami is horrified and devastated as Will unleashes his anger, accusing her of destroying her family and betraying Rafe. Sami desperately tries to explain her actions, but Will won't hear it. Sami realizes he has confronted EJ, and she fears Will is going to tell Rafe the truth. Will, full of loathing, tells Sami her secret is safe; he doesn't want to hurt Rafe or his siblings. But he wants his mother to stay out of his life. Sami refuses to give up on her son but he lashes out, saying she is exactly what she hated about her mother. It's all come full circle. Will vows he'll never forgive her and he storms out, leaving Sami in a sobbing heap.

Rafe and Carrie take on the case of a woman who suspects her husband is cheating on her. After she leaves, Rafe and Carrie work together to solve the case. As they work, they bond over their marital problems. Carrie appreciates Rafe's support and finds herself drawn more to him than ever before. Rafe privately feels the same way. Carrie and Rafe finally learn their client's husband wasn't cheating, and they celebrate saving a marriage and solving their first (significant) paid case. In a burst of excitement, Carrie and Rafe embrace and then, before they realize what they're doing, they fall into a passionate kiss. As it continues, Sami walks in and receives the shock of her life.

Nicole continues to question EJ, suspecting Will must be holding something over his head. EJ is able to cover, though Nicole remains suspicious. They go to the town square for the televised debate against Abe. Abe and Jennifer are conflicted about sending EJ fake debate questions but know they had no choice if they want to keep DiMera out of office. Abe still feels guilty about deceiving Lexie. The debate begins and EJ is stunned when he's hit with questions for which he hasn't prepared. At the same time, Abe does extremely well. During a break, EJ and Nicole figure out Abe had the questions in advance and somehow got fake ones to EJ. EJ goes back into the debate guns blazing, and both men finish strong. When the polls come in, however, Abe is the clear winner. A furious EJ and Nicole storm over to Abe and Jennifer. In front of Lexie, EJ accuses Abe of knowing the questions in advance.
