Oct. 27, 2008
Sami manages to cover Johnny's "baby" revelation to EJ, who doesn't suspect a thing. Sami says her goodbyes and meets her cop guard, Darrell. Roman and Darrell escort Sami to a secret loft. There, they make it clear that she may not have any contact whatsoever with the outside world. After an emotional goodbye, Roman leaves Sami in Darrell's safekeeping. Sami becomes bored and lonely in her new home and misses her family terribly. She is grateful to find that EJ has tucked pictures of her kids into her suitcase. Sami tells her unborn child that she's doing all this for him or her. Meanwhile, the hit man is determined to find Sami.
Chloe and Lucas both admit a degree of relief to having Sami out of their lives for awhile. They take advantage of their time alone and make love.
Nicole experiences a grueling night of baby-sitting Johnny and isn't sure whether to rejoice or cry when EJ tells her Sami might not be coming home.
Melanie crumples the threatening note. She finds Nick in the hallway outside her room, and he explains that he's come to check on her. Melanie tells him the whole world hates her, and she's getting out of Salem. Nick persuades her that if she leaves, she'll look guilty. If she stays, he can help her prove her innocence.
Meanwhile, distraught off learning of Kate's cancer diagnosis, Chelsea rushes to the Java Café to look for medical info. Evan offers comfort and persuades her to confide in Nick. Nick, preoccupied with Mel's problems, suggests Chelsea talk to him tomorrow. Chelsea takes umbrage and lays into Melanie when they cross. While Melanie tells Nick she'll meet him tomorrow for lunch, we see her making arrangements to leave Salem for good.
