Days in Black-and-White (And Color!)

Days of our Lives: Forty Five Years A Celebration in Photos is a rare glimpse of over 500 behind the scenes photographs from one of America's most beloved television shows. With never-before-seen images of cast, crew, sets and styling, the proverbial "4th wall" is broken for an extraordinary look inside the studio and into the lives of the stars of the longest-running scripted program in NBC's history. This hard cover, full color, coffee table book will escort readers on a journey throughout the production day " from the first cup of coffee in the morning until the director says "it’s a wrap!" Original pages from scripts, archived photos, and some of the earliest set designs are combined with contemporary elements to vividly demonstrate how Days of our Lives is continually moving forward with the times while maintaining its excitement and popularity. The book is Co-Authored by Greg Meng, Executive in Charge of Production (Corday Productions) and Eddie Campbell.

Co-writer Eddie Campbell told us that "Days of our Lives: Forty Five Years A Celebration in Photos is an unprecedented photographic journey behind the scenes of Days of our Lives. It's unlike anything the fans have ever seen. And it's not just a book for fans. Photographers, creative people, art directors should find it interesting, as well."

When we asked if any of the cast objected to being photographed in this intimate, behind-the-scenes way, he responded with a laugh, and said, "no, actually. To be quite honest, the cast and crew of Days is one of the most professional, efficient and sweetest groups I've ever worked with in my life."

Want more Days in hardcover? Check out A Secret In Salem! The Days of our Lives stories continue with the first in the Salem's Secrets, Scandals, and Lies fiction line by former head writer Sheri Anderson. A Secret in Salem features beloved characters from the show.

Marlena and John have never been so close, and yet so far apart… Although her love for John has never waned, after two years of him being paralyzed, she must find a cure before they drift too far apart as man and wife. But John's illness may not be all that it seems, and the truth could tear them apart forever.

On the winding roads leading to Monaco, a convertible careens off a cliff... For Charlotte Gaines, daughter of one of the world's richest men and one of the hottest designers, the accident reveals a hidden truth about her family that she never suspected. It sets her on a quest that will uncover long-buried secrets, hidden passions, and dangerous mysteries...all seeming to lead to a small town named Salem, and a truth that will change all of their lives forever.

Sheri Anderson is credited for co-creating some of the most memorable storylines and supercouples on American daytime television including Luke and Laura, Bo and Hope, John and Marlena, Patch and Kayla, and Shane and Kimberly.

Sheri told us that she was "really given total freedom to write whatever I wanted. Also, what I did was take them outside of Salem. The first book takes place in Switzerland and Monte Carlo, because Switzerland is where John and Marlena are. Jack and Jennifer are in it, Abby is in it, Chelsea is in it, but then I created a whole new group of characters. If you haven't watched the show, you'll read this novel and you'll understand who John and Marlena are, you'll understand all of those dynamics, and then you'll understand the new characters. For people who do watch the show, the people who have read it, they say it really reinforces things, because I'm also very big on certain touchstones. What is John and Marlena's song? Minor little things that make the audience go "oh, I remember that." It’s memories."

We all have wonderful memories of events in Salem, and Sheri is no different. "It was a very satisfying experience," she said. "When I finished the last page, when I wrote the last line, I went ‘oh, I like that.’ I was a fan before I was privileged to be on the show, so to be able to feel that good about something was really rewarding for me. I hope it is for the readers. I think it will be."
