SAMI BRADY
(Alison Sweeney)

Sami and her twin Eric were raised in Colorado by their maternal grandparents. She returned to Salem as a teenager. Sami befriended newcomer Lucas Roberts and the two joined forces to break Carrie and Austin apart. She even became bulimic in an attempt to get Austin's attention. Sami was heartbroken when she uncovered Marlena's affair with John Black and discovered that her little sister, Belle, was his biological daughter.

Sami began dating Alan, who eventually raped her. Her testimony did not hold up and the case was dropped. Later, when Alan threatened her at gunpoint, Sami shot him in the groin, castrating him. After the ordeal, she turned to Lucas for comfort. They made love and she conceived Will. Sami was still in love with Austin and she drugged him to get him into bed. He vowed that it would never happen again.

Sami interrupted Carrie and Austin's wedding with the false news that he was her baby's father. When Will was kidnapped and sold on the black market in France, Austin and Sami were forced to legally marry in order to regain custody. A series of accidents prevented Austin from getting an annulment. Will's real paternity was finally revealed and Austin married Carrie.

Sami became engaged to Franco Kelly. Austin found Franco sleeping with a stripper named Candi and told Sami moments before the wedding. Sami threatened to kill him and moments later, Franco was found dead (Lucas shot him). Sami was convicted and sentenced to die by lethal injection. Seconds before her injection, Lucas ran in and confessed. Sami was cleared of the crime.

After Austin overheard an argument between Lucas and Sami that revealed all of her many lies, he left her at the altar. A heartbroken Sami had an even bigger problem. Lucas had tape-recorded their argument and eventually Victor got hold of the tape. He forced Sami to let Lucas see Will and later Nicole had him use the tape to keep Sami away from Brandon.

Sami believed that Brandon was the father of Lexie's baby. She switched the paternity test results. Sami forced Brandon to go to a justice of the peace and exchange vows. Lucas, Kate and Nicole exposed Sami's secret. Brandon confronted Lexie and it came out that Sami had been tricked. Abe was really the father. Brandon left Salem â€" and Sami.

Sami and Lucas's relationship heated up and they became engaged. Scheming Kate tried everything in her power to stop the wedding. She orchestrated Brandon's return, then drugged him and Sami and stuck them in bed naked together. Lucas found them and the wedding was off. Sami blamed Kate, and Brandon did the same, but she squirmed her way out of it.

Sami started getting mysterious messages about "revenge" and it wasn't long before she'd been transformed into a man named "Stan." She didn't know that it was Tony whose evil deeds she was carrying out, she only knew she loved getting back at the people she hated.

The truth about what Kate had done came out and Lucas and Sami planned to marry â€" again. Then Kate uncovered the truth â€" Sami was "Stan!" Kate told everyone the truth and the wedding was off. Luckily, there was someone there to comfort Sami â€" Austin.

Sami set her sights - again - on Austin. She had competition from the newly-returned Carrie. Sami blackmailed Lexie to tell Carrie that if she and Austin were to have children, they would have terrible birth defects. Desperate to have children, Carrie chose Lucas. And before she knew it, she was pregnant.

Austin proposed to Sami, but on that same night she got a heart-stopping message: a mysterious someone knew about her blackmail. On her big day, Sami got a phone call: if she went through with the wedding, the truth would come out. This time, Sami left Austin at the altar. She gave him back his ring and told him she could never marry him.

After Lucas caught Carrie and Austin together, his marriage ended and he and Sami grew closer. That ended, however, when the 'gloved hand' left a note detailing Sami's deception about Austin and Carrie's potential progeny. Fortunately, she had someone to turn to: EJ. He told her she shouldn't apologize for who she was and she liked that idea. As Sami and EJ grew closer, Lucas realized he still had feelings for her and sabotaged her relationship with EJ.

Sami learned the truth about EJ. He was working for the DiMeras! On their way to a ski getaway, their car broke down and Lucas was trapped in an abandoned cabin. Sami set out to find help, but only one person stopped. EJ. He agreed to help, on one condition. Sami had to have sex with him! Sami told Lucas that she was pregnant, hiding that there was a chance the baby was EJ's. Lucas proposed. EJ suspected Sami was pregnant.

Celeste showed Sami a photo of Lexie's car taken in conjunction with a speeding ticket. Sami was driving and EJ was in the passenger seat! They vowed to keep the photograph a secret. Celeste told Sami that the only way to be rid of EJ was to kill him! Celeste laid out her plan. Sami was to meet him at the cabin and kiss him wearing drugged lipstick. After EJ passed out, she would set the place on fire! Sami reluctantly agreed. Celeste poured gasoline all over the cabin and left the match with Sami.

Sami realized she couldn't kill EJ. She and Celeste were about to make a clean getaway when the cabin exploded and they heard EJ calling for help! Sami tried to get back in but couldn't get through the flames. Later, she got a call and was horrified to learn that EJ's remains weren't found. He was still alive! EJ met with Celeste and we learned that he had been forcing her to do his bidding all along. EJ promised Sami that her wedding would be a day to remember.

Kate found the photo of Sami and EJ in Lexie's car. The wedding began, and Sami and Lucas were pronounced man and wife! Everyone headed to Chez Rouge, where Marlena presented a video of Sami and Lucas over the years. Stuck right in the middle was the photo of Sami and EJ. Lucas surprised everyone by asking Sami if she still wanted to be his wife. She said yes! Lucas revealed that he knew all along that EJ helped her save his life and he didn't care. Sami admitted that she had sex with EJ that night and the baby could be his.

On their honeymoon, Sami and Lucas rebuilt an old mansion in New Orleans. While there, they discovered letters written in Italian. Sami recognized the signature â€" DiMera! The letters revealed clues about the origin of the ongoing feud between the Brady and DiMera families.

Sami learned she was carrying twins and a DNA test showed that EJ was the father. Stefano dictated that the only way to end the feud was if EJ and Sami married and raised their twins together, but she resisted. After John was killed by a hit-and-run driver, Sami agreed to divorce Lucas and marry EJ. Sami gave birth to the twins, and a DNA test stated that Lucas was the father of the girl and EJ was the father of the boy.

At the small ceremony, EJ was shot just after he and Sami said their vows. Lucas was arrested and sent to prison for shooting EJ. Salem soon discovered that the presumed-dead John had been Stefano's prisoner! Stefano was sent to jail for kidnapping John, but Sami and EJ were still in danger from him, and were sent to a safe house with the twins for protection. They grew closer. Later, Stefano was found in a catatonic state in his cell, and the threat was lifted.

As Sami and EJ were about to make their annulment official, he learned that his visa was about to expire and he would be deported. They moved into the DiMera mansion to prove that they were indeed a legitimate couple. Sami eventually admitted her feelings for EJ, and, after Lucas convinced her she should move on, the two made love. Unfortunately, Mickey secured Lucas's release and he showed up to find EJ and Sami in bed!

Sami learned that she was pregnant. She and Lucas both knew that EJ was the father. Sami didn't want to tell EJ about the baby. He had moved on with Nicole, and Sami was worried about Stefano. Nonetheless, she went to the mansion to tell him, and witnessed a murder! Roman sent Sami to live in a safe house. While in witness protection, she clashed with an FBI agent named Rafe Hernandez.

Sami returned from witness protection with her "adopted" baby. She had also started a romantic relationship with Rafe. Grace tragically died of bacterial meningitis and Sami came clean with EJ. Eventually, it also came out that Nicole had miscarried and switched babies; thus, Grace was not Sami and EJ's biological daughter; Sydney was. Sami regained custody of her real daughter.

Someone kidnapped Sydney! EJ convinced Sami to keep the ransom notes they received a secret from Rafe; this eventually drove the couple apart. EJ wanted to look like a hero in Sami's eyes, and did when he brought Sydney home. Of course, the truth was that EJ had paid Anna to kidnap Sydney, and Rafe suspected as much. While Sami and EJ grew closer, Rafe continued his investigation. He eventually found a CD Nicole had recorded of EJ confessing to the kidnapping! Rafe raced to the DiMera mansion and interrupted Sami and EJ's wedding. Sami broke up with EJ and left with Rafe.

Kate overheard a drunken EJ tell Stefano that he was going to take his kids and leave Salem. Kate told Sami, and she snuck out of Rafe's apartment while he was sleeping and went to the DiMera mansion. She found EJ passed out, holding a gun. Sami took the gun and shot him in the head! On the way back to Rafe's apartment, Sami threw the gun in the river.

The next morning, Rafe and Sami woke up in bed together. Rafe proposed and Sami accepted. Sami learned that EJ was in the hospital. Bo questioned Sami, but Rafe assured him that she was with him all night. When EJ woke up, he seemed to believe that he and Sami had gotten married. She temporarily kept up the ruse for the sake of his health, but, when he was sufficiently recovered, Sami and Rafe told EJ the truth.

Will knew what his mother had done but agreed to keep her secret, as did Rafe when he learned the truth. Arianna had a different idea, and when she learned that Sami was the guilty party, she raced to tell EJ. She was hit by a car on the way and died, but did she die with Sami’s secret intact?
