MIMI LOCKHART
(Farah Fath)

Mimi started her time at Salem High as a sophomore and quickly became Belle's best friend. A bright, energetic and boy-crazy girl, Mimi lets things slip out of her mouth she sometimes regrets. The results can sometimes be quite humorous. But beneath her buoyant fade lies a mask of insecurity she works hard to hide. Jan Spears played on that insecurity to gain Mimi as a friend and the results were disastrous. Mimi became alienated from Belle, who quickly got close to new kid in town Chloe Lane. The end result of Mimi and Jan's friendship was OperaGirl.net, which was "exposed" at the Last Blast Dance 2001. This almost landed Mimi in jail; instead she was forced to spend her senior year at Salem High cleaning bathrooms.

During the summer of 2001, Mimi joined her fellow Salem High classmates on a trip to Puerto Rico to study the environment. She and Belle became close again, but she became even closer to Kevin Lambert, who proved to be one very hot geek! They came very close to going all the way, but a stubborn contraceptive wrapper held them up. Upon her return to Salem, Mimi was determined to do the right thing, being a good friend to Belle and even making up with Chloe. In fact, Chloe and Mimi joined forces toward the end of the school year to help Belle and Shawn get back together. She accomplished that task, along with high school graduation, and spent the summer with Kevin as he prepared to leave for Stanford.

Kevin left for college and Mimi stayed in town to attend Salem University. They agreed to see other people. No one seemed on the horizon, until she and Philip teamed up to try to "crush the crushes" of Rex and Cassie on Belle and Shawn. Mimi succeeded, as Rex grew attracted to her and eventually they shared their first sweet kiss. Their relationship grew, even as Mimi dealt with Rex's mood swings and splitting headaches. When Rex accidentally killed Rolf, Mimi even helped him dispose of the body and later that same night, they made love for the first time at Lookout Point. Afterwards, Rex gave Mimi a beautiful diamond; she didn't know that he had used a special machine he had built to create the diamond.

When the Salem Stalker started killing, Rex was one of the immediate suspects. Mimi stood by him, even as she began to suspect that he might be responsible. Eventually, he was cleared of suspicion when he happened to be with Shawn when a murder was committed.

Mimi's mother Bonnie started to play a bigger part in her daughter's life and the difference between these two ladies couldn't be more obvious. Mimi seems positively down-to-earth and sensible compared to Bonnie. When Rex decided to propose to Mimi, he went first to Bonnie to ask her permission. Bonnie said no; after all, the young DiMera/Brady has no visible means of support. Mimi was devastated especially after she decided to turn the tables and propose to Rex herself. He said no! He explained, however, that he did want to marry Mimi, just not until the right time.

The Salem Stalker was finally exposed as Marlena, Mimi's best friend Belle's mother. Mimi supported Belle and tried to help her in her relationship with Shawn. Of course, it turns out that no one is really dead; they're all just being held hostage in an exact replica of Salem on a tropical island.

Patrick, Mimi's older brother, returned to town and took up residence in Jennifer Deveraux's guest room.

After making the upsetting discovery that she was pregnant, Mimi was faced with a choice. At first, she was excited and couldn't wait to tell Rex. Then it became clear that he wasn't ready to become a father. Bonnie eventually convinced Mimi that if she had the baby, Rex would leave her. Mimi made the difficult decision to terminate her pregnancy. And she never told Rex.

Unfortunately, it didn't end there. Jan Spears found evidence of what Mimi had done and blackmailed her to help keep Belle and Shawn apart. If not, Jan threatened to expose her secret. Mimi did Jan's bidding, but it grew increasingly difficult. She could hardly stand having these threats hanging over her head! And Rex kept going on and on about how honest she was. Finally, Mimi and Jan had it out. They fought outside of Alice's, then Jan fell and hit her head. She was badly injured and ended up in a coma. And "Stan" had seen it all.

The only evidence as to who had attacked Jan was a fake fingernail -- Mimi's fake fingernail. She ripped off the rest, but TEK found these in her garbage. The walls closed in on our Meems, until she finally made a full confession to TEK. He agreed not to arrest her, but if Jan never wakes up, Mimi could be arrested for murder. She was prepared to tell Rex the truth, when he announced he was going out of town. Mimi is off the hook -- for now.

Jan didn't wake up, but Rex still learned the truth. He overheard Belle and Mimi talking about the abortion. He couldn't believe Mimi had lied to him and he left town.

Mimi was devastated. And blamed Belle for Rex's departure. The only person there to pick up the pieces was Shawn Brady. They'd all been friends; slowly but surely they realized there was something more there. Friends became lovers, but there was something in the way: Belle. Mimi couldn't just get past the relationship these two had always had, especially after she learned a brutal truth. Shawn was Claire's father, not Philip! Bonnie convinced Mimi to keep this a secret. Shawn and Mimi were married, but she still has this cloud hanging over her head. When will the truth come out?

It wasn't long before Shawn and Mimi decided to have children. She didn't think she could get pregnant, but they decided to try in vitro fertilization. Mimi's fertilized egg was implanted, but she lost the baby. Their next step was surrogacy. They thought this went well, but were thrown for a loop when they learned the awful truth. By some mistake or misbehavior, Mimi's egg had been fertilized with Philip's sperm (and implanted in their surrogate) and Belle's egg was implanted with Shawn's. Ooops!

Mimi quickly became determined that some kind of custody arrangement needed to be worked out. Belle and Shawn weren't so convinced. Mimi and Philip feared that it was because they were both thrilled they were having a baby. Shawn and Philip had a drinking contest to decide who was right. They were both wrong. Shawn lost and almost died from alcohol poisoning. While he was in the hospital, Claire's hospital file ended up in his room. The file said he was Claire's father. Everybody read it, but no one believed it. Mimi breathed an enormous sigh of relief. But now, after Chelsea was arrested for changing the DNA results, Shawn is going to take a paternity test to see if he really is the father. Will the truth come out? Or will Bonnie's continued meddling save Mimi?;-)
